Sugarhouse Community Garden



This is a virtual tour of Sugarhouse Community Gardens. Each plot is owned,cared and payed for by individuals or organizations on a monthly basis. A variety of things are grown in the garden including and not limited to, raspberries, basil, squash, cantaloupe, lettuce, spinach, sunflowers, watermelon, tomatoes, peppers, pumpkins,etc.The Sugarhouse Community Gardens in addition to giving you a space to grow produce also provides classes on their maintenance and upkeep.

  1. I enjoyed this post about the Sugarhouse Community Garden, mostly because these community gardens are a new idea to me. Before this class, I had never heard of them or considered their purpose or importance. It's been interesting to me as a student in Comm 3030 to see how this pertains to food justice. I loved the video component included in this post, mainly because it makes the reader feel as if they are there and can get a feel of the garden's surroundings. I think it would have been great to include an interview with a community garden worker/volunteer/participant, who can give a short explanation of why the garden is important to Sugarhouse and the surrounding community.
